Chris Beardshaw : Full CV
Chris’ knowledge, enthusiasm and talent for Horticulture and all things gardening have seen him rise rapidly through the television industry, most recently presenting ‘Wild About Your Garden’ alongside Nick Knowles & Ellie Harrison, BBC 1, TX Nov 2008. Having been trained in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Pershore College and Cheltenham University, Chris has a large number of private clientele as well as clients of whom he produces show gardens for world wide, most recently in Bahrain and Japan 2009. He puts together many show gardens and has won 5 RHS Gold Medals including 2 at The Chelsea Flower Show. He has also won the BBC Peoples Choice Award at The Chelsea Flower Show two years running. Chris’s broadcast career began when he was asked for an interview one day at the Malvern Flower Show. Since then he has presented or been co-presenter of ‘The Flying Gardener’, BBC 2, ‘Great Garden Detectives’, ITV 3, ‘Gardeners World’, BBC 2 Country Lives, ITV, ‘The Great Garden Challenge’, Ch 4, ‘Hidden Gardens’, BBC 2 and ‘Weekend Gardener’ for UKTV Style. He is also a regular contributor on ‘Gardeners Question Time’, R4. Currently the author of two books, ‘How Does Your Garden Grow’, 2007 and ‘The Natural Gardener’, 2003, he has also written the Foreward for ‘Hidden Gardens’. He has a new book on sustainability out in 2009. He has written regularly for the Daily Mail, Period House and does Q & A’s in various magazines such as Gardeners World Magazine and Grow Your Own. A keen supporter of the Grass Roots of his given industry, Chris uses his passion for gardening to help younger gardening enthusiasts move into the industry. By supporting the DCSF the 14-19 year old Diploma for Environmental and Land based studies, Chris hopes to assist in the education of younger people and horticulture. He lectures in Horticulture and Design at Cheltenham and Gloucester University, and speaks and lectures to Gardening Clubs/Societies and Corporate Companies. He has also set up a mentoring Scholarship with The Three Counties in which the applicants will create a display Garden for the Malvern Spring Gardening Show, the winning designer will work alongside Chris for a 12 month programme. He is definitely a busy chap! A talented Horticulturalist and Presenter, Chris has a big future to look forward to.
